Those of you who keep up to date with changes in the NHS will be aware that as part of the contractual changes for general practice in 2015 all patients are to be allocated a named Dr. This affects over 5000 of our patients (those over 75 or on a care plan will already have a named GP). As we hope you can appreciate this would be quite an administrative task if we tried to identify the GP each patients sees most often, we have therefore split our patients by using the first letter of your surname, as follows –
Dr Allen – A - B
Dr Shevket - C - E
Dr Scott-Cook - F - H
Dr Ongley - I - M
Dr Hodges - N - R
Dr Gupta - S - V
Dr Whittaker - W – Z
This will make no changes to the way in which you access care, you can still see any Dr and use Open or routine appointments in the same way. However, if you would prefer to have another named GP, then please just let a receptionist know and it can be changed for you.
Lynn is our respiratory nurse - you will only see Lynn if you have COPD or Asthma or if one of the GP's wants tests performed in line with respiratory symptoms.
Debbie is our senior nurse at the practice, she is also a Diabetes specialist nurse. You may see Debbie for a range of general nursing reasons or more specifically for the management of your Diabetes.
The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
As well as being a popular member of our reception team Emily is also a fully qualified phlebotomist, so you may see her if you require a blood test at any time.
The secretary deals with referrals for patients and any letters to patients or to hospitals. They also deal with chasing appointments and results from the hospitals.
We currently have a midwife in attendance at the surgery once a week, on a Wednesday afternoon. A midwife deals with pregnant ladies and any issues they may experience during pregnancy.
